Dominican roots. Boston home.
A little piece
of home. Toasted.
A story of roots, resilience, and a really good sandwich.
Tony Tavarez · Founder
A different
kind of dream.
Before Tostado, Tony Tavarez was chasing the corporate ladder. But as a first-generation immigrant, he felt drawn back to something that couldn’t be found in an office: his Dominican roots.
He saw a gap in Boston — a place for a quality sandwich shop with the flavors, warmth, and neighborhood spirit of Dominican community eateries. In 2007, he took that leap. Tostado was born.

Built on heart.
Rooted in culture.
The foundation was simple: hard work, faith, family, and consistency. Food that carried the pride of a culture. A shop where the neighborhood could feel at home.
What started as one dream grew into two Boston neighborhood institutions — Roslindale and Jamaica Plain — and today the Tostado family reaches Santo Domingo Oeste in the Dominican Republic. Through it all, the purpose stayed the same: reconnect people through familiar flavors and a genuine sense of belonging.
Since 2007. Still full of soul.

Boston knows a good sandwich.
Two years.
One big honor.
Boston Globe Best of the Best. Winner in 2025 and 2026. Same heart. Same neighborhood pride.
